Facilities Manager, The Foundry Ministries, Bessemer, AL

The Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining The Foundry's buildings and grounds to ensure that the facilities are safe, up to code, and fully operational.   Upon request, the Manager will also coordinate maintenance services with staff at The Foundry Farm in Cullman, CLCC, and the thrift stores in Fairfield, Cullman, and Pelham.

 The Manager serves as the Employment Readiness supervisor to the program participants assigned to the Maintenance Department.  



Staff Management:

  • Coach and mentor staff to meet professional development goals
  • Manage the team workflow by planning workloads, allocating tasks, and monitoring progress against goals
  • Oversee staff schedules to maintain coverage during all hours of operation within the department
  • Review and approve time cards and PTO requests to meet the established weekly approval schedule
  • Communicate with team members regarding new initiatives, policy revisions, and ministry updates
  • Maintain safety standards by complying with operational objectives, ministry training, and reporting procedures
  • Be responsible for relaying and confirming receipt of all Foundry-wide emergency messages to those in the department

Facilities:

  • Collaborate with Maintenance Assistant to manage daily maintenance requests and scheduled preventative maintenance, including repairs to buildings and other structures; carpentry; special projects; electrical; plumbing; HVAC service needs; landscaping; and follow up on all work requests
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times, build trust with vendors and maintain positive relationships with outside contractors and other support personnel
  • Maintain consistent communication with the COO and Facilities Assistant
  • Immediately report complex and complicated problems for guidance and direction
  • Responsible for opening and closing facilities as requested, including setting alarms and securing equipment and facilities
  • Display willingness to be flexible with work schedule to accommodate special requests and emergencies
  • Perform strenuous physical activity in all types of weather conditions
  • Calculate materials and labor costs for in-house projects as requested
  • Follow safety guidelines and ensure compliance at all times and provide ongoing safety training for program participants and staff
  • Collaborate with COO to prepare operating budget and reports
  • Partner with the COO to negotiate bids and contracts for third party vendors

Employment Readiness Program Management:

  • Oversee, coach, and instruct program participants in the performance of their tasks and assignments, including project organization, cleaning up after each task, and proper care and storage of tools and equipment
  • Manage transport of program participants and materials to and from work sites
  • Ensure that program participants consistently provide exemplary customer service
  • Communicate with Program staff on issues and concerns
  • Evaluate program participants per program phase guidelines and participate in weekly phase meetings as requested
  • Submit program participant G.R.O.W. reports as needed
  • Maintain program participant confidentiality at all times

 Education:

  • High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Certificate, or GED
  • Trade school certifications such as Construction, Electrical, HVAC, Welding, and Plumbing
  • OSHA 10 Hour Certification

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in facilities maintenance and supervision
  • Mechanical aptitude or any combination of experience, education, and training meets the required level of knowledge and ability

Requirements:

  • Current state-issued driver's license
  • Clean driving record and must be approved by the ministry insurance provider.
  • Proficient in Microsoft or Mac applications
  • Able to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Physically able to stand, bend, squat, and lift to 80 pounds
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to resolve issues in a calm and efficient manner
